Styling the feather print ruffle midi skirt
Some prints you have to see move. This one is painted feathers and blooms in teal, gold and rust, cut into soft ruffle tiers that swing with you. Here it is out of the bag, up close, and on the form with the top we keep reaching for.

What you are looking at
A midi skirt in a painterly feather and bloom print — teal, mustard, rust and olive over a soft ground. The fabric is light and slightly sheer, so it is cut in tiers that layer over each other and keep the print moving instead of sitting flat.
The waistband is a wide black stretch panel. No zip, no button, nothing digging in after lunch. It sits at the natural waist and holds the tiers where they belong.
- Tiered ruffles, midi length
- Wide black stretch waistband — pull on, no closure
- Light, fluid fabric with a soft drape
- Lined through the body, sheer only at the ruffle edges
How we styled it
A fitted teal sleeveless top with a wide boat neck. It picks up the deepest colour in the print, and the clean line at the shoulder balances all that movement below. Half tuck it and the waistband disappears.
If you would rather keep it quiet, a plain ivory or black knit does the same job. The skirt is the piece people will ask about, so the top only has to hold its ground.
- Fitted sleeveless top, half tucked
- A fine gold pendant, nothing competing with the print
- Heeled sandals for evening, flat slides for daytime
Where it works
Dinner, a birthday, church on Sunday, the kind of evening where you want to look put together without trying too hard. It photographs beautifully, which is usually the giveaway that a print is doing its job.
Fit and care
The stretch waistband gives about two sizes of room, so check the measurements on the product page rather than the label. Between sizes, size up — the tiers hang better with a little ease. Cold hand wash, hang to dry, cool iron on the waistband only.
Questions we get
Is the ruffle skirt see through?
The body is lined to just above the knee. The lowest ruffle tiers are sheer on purpose, which is what gives the hem its float. Over bare legs it reads as texture, not transparency.
How long is the midi skirt?
It falls between the knee and the ankle on most heights, which is the length we look for in a midi. Exact measurements are listed on the product page because every print run cuts a little differently.
Can I wear this in cooler weather?
Yes. Add a fine knit on top in a colour pulled from the print, and closed-toe boots under the hem. The tiers still move, you are just warmer.
Do you restock this skirt?
Rarely. We buy prints like this in small runs, so when a size sells through it is usually gone. Join the list and you will hear before the next drop goes up.
