Description

Cotton sheet masks soaked in an ampoule rather than a watery essence, so there is enough left in the sachet to press into your neck and the backs of your hands afterwards.

Five to choose from, sold singly: cica for skin that is reacting to something, hyaluronic acid for flat and tired skin, vitamin for dullness, arbutin for marks left behind, tea tree for breakouts.

What is in it

A cotton sheet rather than a hydrogel, which sits closer and is easier to reposition. Each sachet holds considerably more serum than the sheet can carry.

The size of it

One sheet per sachet. Sold one at a time so you can work through the five and settle on the one that suits you.

Good to know

Store the sachets flat and out of the sun, and use one within a few minutes of opening it. There is no benefit to leaving a sheet on past twenty minutes; after that it takes moisture back out of the skin.

A korean sheet mask is the simplest way to test an ingredient before buying a bottle of it — the cheapest useful thing in korean skincare, and the one people buy five of.

Why it is on the shelf

Sold one at a time, so you can work through the range and find the one that suits you rather than committing to a box of ten. Twenty minutes is the whole commitment.

Buying a box of ten of the wrong mask is how most people decide the whole category does nothing. Sold singly, finding out costs four dollars rather than twenty-five — and korean skincare is mostly a matter of finding out, which is cheaper to do a sachet at a time than a bottle at a time.

Three ways to use it

  • Routine — over a cleansed, toned face for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  • Afterwards — press in what is left rather than rinsing, then moisturise.
  • Frequency — twice a week is plenty; nightly is not better.

Before you buy it

Five kinds, and they are not interchangeable: cica for skin that is reacting, hyaluronic acid for dehydration, vitamin for dullness, arbutin for tone, tea tree for breakouts. Buy for the thing you actually have rather than one of each. Leaving a korean sheet mask on until it dries works against you — once the sheet is dry it pulls moisture back out, so take it off while it is still damp.
