What is in it

A solid brightening balm that softens on contact with skin. Glutathione is the brightening agent; the vitamins are there to support it. No water in the formula, which is why it is stable in a compact rather than a dark glass bottle.

Good to know

Keep the lid on and the compact out of a hot bag in summer; a balm this soft will slump above about 30°C and will not re-form the same way. Wipe the surface with a tissue if it picks up makeup.

Why it is on the shelf

An ampoule in a bottle stays on the bathroom shelf. In a twist-up compact it goes in a bag and gets used on the patch that needs it, which is the point of a brightening product in the first place.

Brightening is almost always aimed at something small — a shadow beside the nose, the mark a spot left behind in August. Treating a whole face for a thumbprint of skin is how a bottle disappears in three weeks with nothing to show.
