Description

Wide-wale corduroy with real weight to it. The deep ribs throw a shadow and catch the light, which is why a plain trouser in this fabric reads as anything but plain.

It has give where denim does not — the drape is soft and the leg swings rather than holding its shape rigidly.

The fabric

A heavy wide-wale cord, unlined. Front zip and button closure, proper trouser construction rather than an elastic pull-on.

How it fits

High-rise waist, then a wide leg all the way down. Rise 15.5 inches, inseam 29 inches, cut to a 31–32 inch waist. The long inseam is cut for a heel or a boot.

Looking after it

Cold wash inside out and hang to dry. Corduroy flattens where it is pressed, so keep an iron off the wales and steam it from the reverse instead. Brushing it along the wale after a wash lifts the pile back.

They are the warmest korean fashion pants we stock and the obvious answer to cute clothes for cold weather when a skirt is not happening — korean fashion winter in one garment.

Why we took this one

Wide-wale cord with real weight to it: the ribs throw a shadow, which is why a plain trouser in this fabric reads as anything but plain. The warmest trousers we sell.

Wide-wale cord throws a shadow along every rib, which is why a plain trouser cut from it is never plain. It is also genuinely warm, so these are a January purchase rather than an all-year one — and the warmest thing on the rail that is not a coat. For cute clothes for cold weather that is the whole argument.

Three ways to wear it

  • Balanced — a fine knit tucked in, which keeps the proportion.
  • Never — anything bulky on top, or the whole outfit becomes volume.
  • Shoes — a boot with some height under them, always.

Before you order

Sized XL, cut to a 31–32 inch waist, and wide from the hip rather than the knee. Wide-wale corduroy is warm — these are January trousers and too much for a heated office. Hang them rather than fold them and never press the nap directly, or it flattens where the iron sat. They need a shoe with height; a flat under a wide cord leg leaves nothing at the hem. The warmest korean fashion pants here.
