Description

A cropped zip-front jacket with a stand collar, chest pockets and a drawstring hem you pull to set the shape. It is sporty without being sportswear.

The matching midi skirt has an elasticated waist, a chain detail at the front and a working cargo pocket on the thigh — a streamlined cut rather than a full one, so it moves cleanly.

The fabric

A light technical-feeling woven on both halves, with a matte finish rather than a sheen. The drawstring at the jacket hem is functional and the cargo pocket is a real one.

How it fits

One size. The jacket is cropped at the waist and the skirt sits high to meet it. The drawstring is the sizing on the jacket; the elastic is the sizing on the skirt.

Looking after it

Cold machine wash and hang to dry. It presses easily if you want the seams crisp; a warm iron on the reverse is enough. Wash it with like colours for the first few goes.

It is the most aesthetic cute clothes thing on the rail if your taste runs to technical rather than pretty, and the only one of our cute clothes sets with pockets in both halves — korean fashion for women with something to do.

Why we took this one

The only set we carry with real pockets in both halves. Sporty without being sportswear, and the drawstring hem lets you set the shape of the jacket.

Real pockets sound like a small thing until you have spent an evening holding a phone in one hand. Sporty without being sportswear is a narrow line to walk, and hardware rather than a logo is how this one stays on the right side of it — which is also why it goes out as two separate garments.

Before you order

One size. Nothing patterned anywhere near it — this set is about shape and hardware, and a print fights both. The jacket is cut to layer over a knit and the skirt sits at the natural waist, so the two halves genuinely go out separately, which is most of the value. Among aesthetic cute clothes it is the set with the most structure and the least fuss.
