Description

A short flared skirt that holds its shape without any stiffness in it. The waist is a covered elastic band, so there is no zip to sit on and nothing to adjust once it is on.

It is one of the few things in the shop that works with trainers and with heels, which is why we keep reordering it.

The fabric

A double knit with enough body to swing when you turn and enough weight to hang rather than fly. All three colours are the same fabric; the cobalt photographs brighter than it looks on the rail.

How it fits

It falls to just above the knee on most people and a little lower if you are petite. Runs small on the waist — take the next size up if you are between two.

Looking after it

Cold wash on a delicate cycle inside a mesh bag, dried flat. Fine knits pill where they rub, so turn it inside out for the wash and take a comb to it twice a season rather than picking at it by hand.

It is the korean fashion skirt people come in and describe rather than name — short, full, holds its shape — and among petite dresses casual alternatives the easiest cute clothes to wear choice there is.

Why we took this one

One of the few things in the shop that works with trainers and with heels, which is why we keep reordering it. A double knit with enough body to swing when you turn.

Very little in a wardrobe takes a trainer and a heel equally well, and the few things that do get worn twice as often as everything else. The swing comes from the cut rather than from a petticoat, which is why it moves without standing away from you — and why we keep reordering it.

Before you order

Sized in alpha sizes, with the flare coming from the cut rather than from a petticoat, so it moves without standing away from you. The waistband sits at the natural waist and the hem lands above the knee. The red is the one that needs everything else plain; black and cobalt will share an outfit.
