You reach for this layer when a coat feels too heavy and a thin knit is not enough. It is cut with a relaxed, boxy shape and dropped shoulder seams. The roomy body slips over your sweaters without pulling under the arms. It settles comfortably at the upper to mid-thigh length.
Wearing the hooded plaid shacket
The heavyweight brushed flannel woven fabric has a soft matte finish. A large-scale plaid check runs across the piece with intersecting wide and narrow tonal bands. It adds depth to a plain white vest, washed denim, or straight-leg black trousers.
An attached hood provides extra cover when autumn winds pick up. Two thin round black drawstrings with plastic barrel stoppers let you cinch the hood close. You can button the centre front placket for crisp walks, or leave it hanging open indoors.
Pockets and cuff details
Parallel edge stitching runs along the centre placket beside neat vertical buttonholes. Small, flat, round dark buttons fasten securely down the front. Side welt pockets at lower hip level give you a warm resting place for cold hands or keys.
Long sleeves finish with single-button barrel cuffs and small gathering pleats. You can unbutton the cuffs to turn the sleeves back while working. A gently curved shirttail hemline completes the shape with neat single-needle topstitching. Without chest flap pockets, the line stays clean and balanced.
